Best Kept Garden Competition 2017

On 9th November a presentation evening was held in the Football Club to celebrate the winners of this year’s Best Kept Garden Competition.

The evening was hosted by the Parish Council Clerk, Carolyn Cross, Chairman Allan Shaw & Vice-Chairman Ann Bishop. This year the prizes were presented to the winners by the Mayor & Mayoress of Chorley, Councillor Mark Perks and Pat Haughton.

The judging for the competition was kindly done again by
Mr. David Brown from The Chorley & District Gardening Society.

The successful residents who won garden centre vouchers this year were:

Small Gardens
3rd – Mr & Mrs Pilling, 66 Lichen Close, Charnock Richard.
2nd – Mrs S Jackson, 4 Lichen Close, Charnock Richard.
1st – Mr Ericson, 30 Neargates, Charnock Richard.

Medium Gardens
3rd – Mr & Mrs Dimsdale, 12 Lichen Close, Charnock Richard
2nd – Mr & Mrs Bennett, Hawthorne Cottage, Charnock Richard..
1st – Mr & Mrs Rostron, 3 The Foxwood, Charnock Richard

Large Gardens
3rd – Mr & Mrs Matthews, The Old Post Office Farm, Brook Lane, Charnock Richard
2nd – Mr & Mrs Lucas, Roscoe House Farm, Delph Lane, Charnock Richard
1st – Mr & Mrs Lundy, Bolton Green Cottage, Back Lane, Charnock Richard

In addition to the winners, other members of the community were recognised for their efforts on the evening such as our Parish Lengthsman, Mr. Gordon Yates & Mr. Norman Brown for his work of adding a lovely flash of colour to the railway bridge on Chorley Lane.

The evening concluded as an informal social evening with an excellent buffet provided by Ian Holland.
